Students will apply their knowledge by completing a Service Learning Project, a poster or class book to share their learning with their community. Dog Safety--(K—2nd Language Arts)--Participants will engage in a group reading activity and learn about dogs’ body language and how to interact with dogs safely. Categorizing Animals--(K—3rd Language Arts)--Participants will categorize different animals and learn the differences between pets, farm animals, and wild animals. They will discuss what each type of animal needs, and how to interact with each. The students will apply their learning by playing interactive games. Responsible Pet Ownership, Step by Step--(3rd—4th Language Arts)--Through participation in a blindfolded exercise and class discussion, participants will demonstrate an understanding of the concepts responsibility and dependency as they relate to pet ownership.
