HOV is featured in "Kidsville News" every month!
Want to do even more?
There are many ways for kids like you to help the homeless animals in our community. You can:
- Volunteer!
Grab your parent or guardian and head out to the shelter to become an official volunteer! Becoming a junior volunteer is a great way to develop respect and compassion for living creatures. Children under the age of 16 may volunteer for certain assignments, as specified in our volunteer job descriptions, if they are accompanied by a parent. The parent must complete all volunteer requirements; including attending our monthly volunteer orientation and a submission of a volunteer application. Parent and child must also complete any additional required training.
Please call the Heart of the Valley at 388-9399 to sign up for our next available orientation!
- Help raise money for the shelter!
From "penny drives" at your school to lemonade stands or bake sales, there are lots of ways you can raise much-needed funds for the dogs, cats & rabbits at the animal shelter. Click here for some great ideas to get started! - Educate yourself and others!
The only way for us to create a more humane world is to spread knowledge and kindness to more people. If everyone understands the importance of spaying and neutering, or why every pet should have ID tags, we might have a lot less homeless pets! There are many educational opportunities at Heart of the Valley. Here are just a few: - Check out a pet book from the lending library at the shelter
- Attend a free educational Pet Pals event – click here to see upcoming dates
- Check out the activity sheets up above for a fun way to learn about pets and the shelter
