Apply to Volunteer
To ensure your volunteer experience will be the best it can be, please take the time to review the Volunteer Handbook.
Each perspective volunteer must fill out their own on-line volunteer application.
2. Attend a New Volunteer Orientation
Heart of the Valley hosts monthly New Volunteer Orientations (NVOs). Orientations are scheduled on the first Saturday (9-10 a.m.) and Wednesday (4:30-5:30 p.m.) of each month in the HOV Community Room. After your application has been reviewed, each volunteer with a valid e-mail address will receive an e-mail outlining dates of upcoming NVOs. Please RSVP as Orientations can fill up quickly.
3. Commit to volunteering for at least 6 months.
To ensure continuous enrichment of shelter animals and to provide you with lots of new skills and experiences, we ask that each volunteer commit to regular service for 6 months’ time.
4. Attend a Training
After you have completed an orientation you will be eligible to take Animal Handling and Care trainings and start your volunteer work. Information about trainings will be given during orientation.
